Qatar Pavilion at Yeosu Expo opens

Yeosu, South Korea: The Chairman of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority H E Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah, who is also president-elect of the Conference on Climate Change (COP18) has inaugurated Qatar Pavilion at the "Yeosu International Expo 2012 being held in city of Yeosu, South Korea.

 

The Expo started its activities under the slogan "Vitality of the Oceans and Coasts," and will continue until August 12 with the participation of 105 countries in addition to more than 10 international organisations to present their technological, scientific, cultural and environmental experiences. Al Attiyah toured the various sections of Qatar pavilion where he was briefed about the three sections that provide visitors with profile of the past, present and future of Qatar including Qatar vision 2030. Al Attiyah also toured a number of pavilions of the participating countries including Sultanate of Oman, UAE, Korea, Turkey, and Japan where he was briefed about the contents of these pavilions.

Talking to reporters, Al Attiyah praised this year's pavilion Qatar as great one, saying it highlights the civilized facet of Qatar. He also thanked those behind its organisation to underscore the growth witnessed in Qatar in all fields during this exhibition in which over one hundred countries and international organizations are taking part.

It is important to present to the pavilion's visitors, especially to the Korean people, a comprehensive idea about Qatar and its progress and modernity witnessed in all different fields in the era of the Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and the Heir Apparent H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, he said.

Al Attiyah also extended his thanks Ali bin Hamad Al Marri, Qatar's Ambassador to South Korea and the Commissioner-General of Qatar in the 2012 Yeosu Expo, for his efforts to facilitate the job of the pavilion's organisers, a matter that contributed to the successful launch of Qatar Pavilion. Al Attiyah said he was pleased with the participation of Qatar in this major international exhibition, hoping that the pavilion provide visitors with adequate information about Qatar. He also underlined the vital role that Qatar attaches to the preservation of environment, especially marine life.
