Obiectivul acestei Conferinţe constă în elaborarea şi aprobarea unui document cu statut juridic Internaţional obligatoriu care să înlocuiască Protocolul de la Kyoto, al cărui perioadă de implementare expiră la 1 ianuarie 2012.
