The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) secretariat and The Climate Group announced on Wednesday the establishment of a strategic partnership in dealing with climate change issues, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.

The initiatives,"The Clean Revolution" by The Climate Group and "Momentum for Change" by the UNFCCC secretariat, aimed at encouraging joint leadership between governments and business institutions, through integrating their initiative efforts in raising awareness.
Executive Director of the UNFCCC Christiana Figueres in a statement on the occasion, said that working towards challenging climate change through adaptation and mitigation alike is underway in reality.
"It is making a difference for people and the environment," she said, adding that success stories in lowering carbon need to be told to a larger audience for wider and faster action.
The Climate Group's Chief Executive Officer Mark Kenber for his part expressed happiness over the partnership with the UNFCCC secretariat on climate change.
The Assembly and Group plan on supporting each other through this partnership in successfully implementing the two campaigns. More specifically, on ensuring corporate and government leaders abide by transformation procedures towards decreasing carbon.
"The Clean Revolution" is a partnership of international statesmen and governments, business leaders and corporations, thinkers and opinion formers. It is coordinated by The Climate Group. It calls for a swift, massive scale-up of clean energy and infrastructure, and of smart technologies and design.
UNFCCC secretariat for its part has developed the concept of "Momentum for Change" as a way to demonstrate the multiple benefits of addressing climate change and to transform misperceptions surrounding taking action on climate change.
